Welcome back to The Roundup. Today we’re sharing an instance of learning something new about an old partner. An automotive partner has relied on Acorn® in the past for plastic and urethane wheels. They were in a difficult position with one of their other projects. To be outfitted with specialized steel wheels they required for their automotive paint lines, they were facing both a longer turnaround and higher cost with their OEM. They turned to Acorn® to see what we could do. Whereas the OEM was quoting a this small guide roller not only more expensively and with engineering fees and an 8-12 week turnaround, Acorn® was able to provide drawings on the item free of charge, engineer an exact made-in-America replica, and deliver for our partner much sooner in only 2-3 weeks.

These particular wheels are machined out of 1018 steel, featuring a custom radius and tread profile and a custom bearing that Acorn was able to source domestically to help expedite. This custom idler wheel guide roller also features with a bearing cover to prevent contamination and will be serving within the paint line’s track configuration.
