In this edition of The Roundup we want to tell you about another returning collaborator for another round of a remanufacturing solution we have been proud and happy to provide.
A major car and truck manufacturer reached out to Acorn Industrial Products Co. - expressing a major challenge facing their fleet of automated guided vehicles (AGVs). This manufacturer relies day in and day out on their AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles) for essential material-handling operations, but more than 100 drive-motor couplings + wheels had reached the end of their life. Replacing motors or replacing the entirety of the fleet would be a major capital expenditure, potentially costing this manufacturer hundreds of thousands of dollars. This is where Acorn® was able to flex our REMANUFACTURING muscles for this Drive Motor Coupling Project.

Remove Worn Press-On Tires
• Re-machine Couplings to Full Concentricity
• Design and Manufacture a Custom Fixture for Repeatability in Hydraulic Pressing
• Install Brand-New Vulkollan® Tires to Ensure Each Coupling Has Like-New Characteristics
Our collaborator was beyond pleased with this outcome. In lieu of replacing their entire fleet, or paying to purchase and repair new drive/motor units - the customer came to Acorn and received a turn-key solution, which resulted in:
